Muhammad Bin Tughluq ruled the Delhi Sultanate from 1325 CE to 1351 CE. He was a controversial ruler, known for bold and unconventional decisions. During his reign, he shifted the capital from Delhi to Deogiri, renaming it Daulatabad. He also replaced the silver currency with brass and copper token currency. Some historians suggest he may have been influenced by the paper currency used in China at the time.The coinage of Muhammad Bin Tughluq can be classified into several categories: coins issued in memory of his father, coins bearing his name (minted in both standard and token forms), and coins struck in the names of the Abbasid Caliphs.
