Commemorative Coin on 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab

India Mint started accepting bookings on January 2nd, 2024 to commemorate the '125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab'.Also known as Utkal Kesari and the Lion of Odisha, he was a freedom fighter, politician, social worker, and writer and supported Mahatma Gandhi and participated in the Salt Satyagraha and Quit India Movement.
As Chief Minister of Odisha, he played a significant role in the construction of the Hirakud Dam and the merger of princely states.
The coin is made of a quaternary alloy consisting of 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel, and 5% zinc. It has a diameter of 44 mm and weighs 35 grams.
