First Field Marshal of India

Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw was the First Indian Army Officer to become a Field Marshal and is celebrated as the Architect of India's victory in the 1971 War.

Known as Sam Bahadur, he started his military career in 1932 at the Indian Military Academy and fought in 5 wars.

He received the Padma Bhushan in 1968 and the Padma Vibhushan in 1972 for his contributions to the nation.

In 2023, a film titled "Sam Bahadur," featuring Vicky Kaushal, was made about his extraordinary military career.
