Micro Mirror Technology for Paper Money

2016-08-01 Mon

The concept of “micro mirror technology” was introduced at the Banknote Conference 2016 by the German firm Giesecke & Devrient, last May in Washington.

The device called Rolling Star LEAD is a security foil with microscopic mirrors technology which makes use of optical variable device effects including colour shifts and 3D images. Officials state that the technology is also “intuitive” which allows 3D effects and adding more clarity to portraits. The dynamic effects function even in poor lighting for quicker authentication.

The Galaxy Security Thread uses the microscopic mirrors with colour-shifting technology. The mirrors show the movement and colour shifting within the thread. It allows for 3D effects within the thread as well.

The Rolling Star also offers the security thread to be embedded into the paper when it s produced. The window thread can be incorporated into the design for printing similar windows and 3D elements on each note.
