Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan's Silver Quarter Rupee 'Nisar' Sold for INR 1,12,000

Shah Jahan, the fifth Mughal Emperor, who ruled from 1628 CE to 1658 CE, is well known for his architectural marvels, including the Taj Mahal.In the recent auction held in Ahmedabad, a very rare silver quarter rupee, 'Nisar' (2.75g) of Shah Jahan, was sold for INR 1,12,000. Shah minted this coin in the 18th year of his reign, during the Hijri year 1054, at the Dar-ul-Khilafat Akbarabad.
