Jim Corbett National Park

On August 8, 1936, Hailey National Park in southern Uttarakhand was established and later renamed Corbett National Park in memory of Jim Corbett, a British sportsman and writer.This Oldest Indian National Park covers 201 square miles (521 square km) and is part of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve, which is 497 square miles (1,288 square km).
India Post issued postage stamps in 1976 and 1986 to commemorate the importance of this natural area for the conservation of endangered wild animals.
