Extremely Rare Gold Gadyana of King Vinayaditya of the Hoysalas of Dwarasamudra sold for INR 300000

Dwarasamudra, also called Dorasamudra or Dvaravatipur, was the third and longest-lasting capital of the Hoysala dynasty, remaining its capital from 1062 CE until the end of the dynasty.

The Gold Gadyana of Hoyasalas of Dwarasamudra, weighing 3.99g, was sold for INR 300000 in an auction held at Bengaluru on 14th July 2024.

The obverse features Majestic elephant standing and facing to the right above the central motif. Lion, sun, and crescent symbols on two sides of the elephant. Pedestal lamp in front of the Lion, which is partially visible. The reverse is inscribed with Three-line Kannada legend “Shri ma/laparo/lu ganda”, the title of King Vinayaditya.
