Indo-Portuguese Maria II Silver Rupee issued in 1845

The Portuguese were the first Europeans to obtain footage in India. Taking advantage of internal rivalries among the local ruler over trade, they made their strategy, which helped them to make a significant leap in trade and commerce, which made them economically powerful enough to begin minting coins.Dona Maria II, "the Educator" or "the Good Mother" ruled Portugal twice: first from 1826 to 1828 and then again from 1834 to 1853.
The silver Rupee issued by Maria II in 1845. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with the bust of the queen facing left. The reverse of the coin bears value ‘RUPIA’ within sprays.
