Jerdon's Courser Commemorative Stamp

Jerdon's courser is a nocturnal bird belonging to the pratincole and courser family Glareolidae. It is endemic to India.Jerdon's courser is a critically endangered nighttime cursorial bird found only in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states of India. It was thought to be extinct from the beginning of the twentieth century until its rediscovery in 1986.
It is now only known from the Sri Lankamalleswara Wildlife Sanctuary, where it lives in low scrub woodland with patches of bare ground.
India Post issued a beautiful stamp of Jerdon's Courser in 1988, at the face value or Rs. 1.
