Debased Gold Dinar of Karkotaka King Pratapaditya II

The Karkotakas kingdom was founded by Durlabhvardhana during the lifetime of Harshavardhan. They ruled over Kashmir and the Northern Parts of the Indian subcontinent between the 7th and 8th Centuries.The Karkotakas built spectacular Hindu temples in their capital Parihaspur. They also promoted Buddhism during their rule and built many Stupas, Chaityas, and Viharas.
King Pratapaditya II issued this debased gold Dinara during his rule. This 7.3g gold Dinara features a king standing facing right towards an altar on the left field, Brahmi legend around on obverse. Goddess seated with the legend on the reverse.
