It draws inspiration from the Ramayana and stories from Shaiva traditions.On October 20, 1975, the Kathakali stamp was issued. This Indian classical dance stamp is one of the six stamps. Kerala Kalamandalam is a Major centre for Kathakali studies. Kathakali is performed by men and women. The costumes and makeup, with faces made to look like painted masks and headdresses.
