On August 9, 1993, India released a commemorative stamp featuring an image of Abdul Gaffar Khan, a political and spiritual figure from British India who was also nicknamed as “The Frontier Gandhi” wearing headgear with a mountaintop in the backdrop.Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan was a pivotal participant in India's independence fight and a close personal friend of Mahatma Gandhi. He founded the Khudai Khidmatgar organization to peacefully fight off the British rule in India.
