Ayyankali Commemorative Stamp

Ayyankali was an Indian politician, prominent social reformer, educator, economist, lawmaker, and revolutionary leader. He dedicated his life to the betterment of oppressed people in the Princely State of Travancore. The work and the struggle done by Ayyankali changed and improved the structure of Kerala.Ayyankali fought for many rights of Dalits, such as access to public places, the right to the dignity of clothing, the right to use public roads, the right to education, etc. He was one of the leaders who also fought for farmer rights. He also joined Sree Narayana Guru in urging Hindus to get rid of caste-based discrimination. He established Sadhu Jana Paripalana Sangham, which propagated education for Dalits.
The Government of India issued this commemorative stamp in 2002 to commemorate him and his work.
