Commemorative Stamp of Alexander Hamilton

Alexander Hamilton was born on 11th January 1755 and was an American military officer, Statesman who served as the first US secretary of the treasury from 1789 to 1795.He worked as an Artillery officer in the American War of Independence. He was an aide to General George Washington, and later the victory of America was marked by the siege of Yorktown.
He founded the Bank of New York, and a trusted member of President George Washington's cabinet led the Department of Treasury. Hamilton resigned from the secretary post and continued his business and legal activities. He was in support of the abolition of the international slave trade.
Hamilton opposed John Adam's re-election campaign for his response during the Quasi-War. He supported Thomas Jefferson and defeated Aaron Burr for the post of president.
Hamilton campaigned against Burr during the elections for governor of New York. As an act of revenge, Burr challenged Hamilton to a duel and Hamilton was shot and died the next day on 12th July 1804.
