Carl Gustav Jung, born on 26th July 1875, was a Swiss psychoanalyst and psychiatrist. He founded Analytical psychology. His work has influenced various fields of psychiatry, archaeology, anthropology, philosophy, literature, religious studies and psychology. Jung worked at the Burghotzli psychiatric hospital in Zurich as a research scientist under Eugen Bleuler. Jung and Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, came together on a vision of human psychology and conducted lengthy correspondence.Jung and Freud separated ways, which resulted in Jung establishing Analytical psychology as a comprehensive system separate from psychoanalysis.
Individuation- the lifelong psychological process of differentiation of the self out of each individual’s conscious and unconscious elements, is among the central concepts of Analytical psychology.
Some of the best-known psychological concepts include synchronicity, archetypal phenomena, the collective unconscious, extraversion and introversion and the psychological complex.
Jung died on 6th June 1961 due to a short illness.
The above-given stamp is a commemorative stamp of Carl Jung. It has a dark brownish-olive colour. This stamp was issued by Switzerland on 14th September 1978 and face value of 70 Swiss centimes. This stamp portrays an image of Carl Jung with his name written on the right side. The face value is on the left bottom corner Helvetia is on the right bottom corner.
