Maharaja Sayaji Rao III Gaekwad established the Baroda Museum in 1894. The Museum and Picture Gallery house the best specimens of art, archaeology, and architecture under one roof. The buildings' architecture is a mix of traditional Maratha, European, and Moghul forms. The Museum is set in the city's beautiful botanical garden. The Museum covers a variety of subjects, such as a Natural History Section, a Survey of Indian Civilization and Art, Pre-historic and Proto-historic relics, life in old Baroda under the Gaekwads, reflections on Asian Civilizations, Egypt, Babylonia, and Tibet, Nepal, China, Japan, and Indonesia, European Arts from Greece to the early 20th century.Commemorative stamp issued on December 20, 1994, The Maharaja left a wealth of world heritage for the people to cherish in what is currently one of the largest museums. The Department of Posts is happy to issue a commemorative postage stamp in commemoration of the Baroda Museum's centenary. The stamp design depicts an exquisite bronze Rishabhanatha from the 6th century A.D., which is exhibited at this museum. Setenant set of two stamps in mint condition. Its color is Two Colors. 1100, 600 Paise are the denominations. The stamp is 5.76 x 3.34 cms in size. The printing size is 5.41 x 2.99cm. Photogravure is the printing process.
