Commemorative stamp of Guru Gobind Singh

Guru Gobind Singh was born on 22nd December 1666. He is the 10th and final human Sikh Guru and was a poet, warrior, spiritual master and philosopher.After his father, Guru Teg Bahadur, was executed by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, Guru Gobind Singh was formally made the leader of the Sikhs at the age of nine.
In 1699, he founded the Sikh warrior community called Khalsa and introduced the Five Ks, the five articles of faith that Khalsa Sikhs wear at all times. Hymns of his Dasam Granth are a sacred part of Sikh prayers and Khalsa rituals and are credited as the one to finalize the Guru Granth Sahib as the primary scripture of Sikhism and the eternal Guru.
The above-given commemorative stamp is of blush violet colour. It was issued by India on 17th January 1967 and had a face value of 15 Indian paise. An image of the Gurudwara shrine of Patna with its face value written on the top right corner.
