Department of Posts released a series called "Personality Series: Bihar" featuring Dashrath Manjhi, also known widely as Mountain Man of India, who manually carved a mountain connecting Gehlaur and Gaya.Dashrath Manjhi, a laborer in Gehlaur village near Gaya in Bihar who was born in 1929, created a road that was 360 feet long, 30 feet wide, and 25 feet high using just his hammer and chisel. Dashrath reduced the distance between the Atria and Wazirganjh blocks of Gaya town from 55 km to 15 km after 22 years of labor.
When Dashrath Manjhi's wife tripped and hurt herself severely when traversing the Gehlour Hills one day, she was encouraged to embark on this big undertaking. However, because there were no medical services nearby, she passed away from her injuries. This profoundly concerned Manjhi, who immediately decided to cut through the Gehlour hills to make it simpler for his village's residents to reach the medical service.
In 23 years, after many hours of labor, he succeeded in excavating a route through the mountain. His enormous efforts were successful in facilitating the peasants' way of life. He passed away in New Delhi at the age of 73.
