Vijay Diwas Commemorative Stamp
2022-12-16 Fri
Every year December 16 is commemorated as Vijay Diwas in the entire India. It was a victory of the Indian armed force over Pakistan in the 1971 war. India pays homage to all the soldiers who defended the nation on this day.The war started when Pakistan launched an attack over Indian airbases on December 3, 1971. It was the first time that all three forces of India fought in unison. The war gave birth to the new country Bangladesh, which was East Pakistan. Eight months after the war, in August 1972, India and Pakistan settled the Shimla agreement.
The Government of India issued this commemorative stamp in 2021 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Victory in the Indo-Pakistan War.
