2022-12-14 Wed

The Argentine Boa or Boa constrictor occidentalis is a subspecies of a heavy-bodied, nonvenomous snake and belongs to the Boidae family, found in the subtropical temperate west of Argentina and Paraguay.

The adult males Boa constrictor reaches the size of 6 to 8 feet with a weight of 4.06 kg. The females measure 8 to 10 feet, weighing about 6.13 on average.

Boa Constrictors are nocturnal and independent. They do not interact with their subspecies except during the mating season. Boa tends to be very docile but can be too aggressive when frightened and hiss during these situations. They reside near water bodies like lakes, rivers, and ponds and enjoy soaking themselves in the water.

Boa occidentalis is a very opportunistic hunter and feed on small animals, birds and rodents and these species are very active at night.

The above-given stamp is the semi-postal stamp. This multicolor stamp was issued on 24th August 2002 by Argentina. 25 Argentine centavos are the face value of this stamp. We see the Boa Constrictor Occidentails on a branch in the center and the face value in the top right corner.
