Commemorative Stamp of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose

Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose was a physicist, biologist, botanist and writer of science fiction. He was born on 30th November 1858. He was the pioneer of the investigation related to radio microwave optics, made significant contributions to the field of botany, and was a major force in experimental science’s expansion in the Indian subcontinent. He was named one of the fathers of radio science. He is also considered the father of Bengali science fiction. He invented a device for measuring the size of the plants, which was named the crescograph. He founded Bose Institute, a research institute in India. It was established in 1917 and was an interdisciplinary research centre in Asia. He worked as the Director of Bose Institute from its inception until his death. Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose died on 23rd November 1937.The above-given stamp is the commemorative stamp of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose. This multicolour stamp was issued on 22nd November 1999 by Bangladesh. This stamp has a face value of 4 Bangladeshi takas. On the given stamp, we can see Sir Bose looking that the right and the face value of 4 Taka is given on the right bottom corner while the country’s name written on the top right and the left bottom corners of the stamp.
