The battle of Camperdown was the major naval battle fought between British North Sea Fleet under Admiral Adam Duncan and Batavian Navy (Dutch) fleet under Vice-Admiral Jan de Winter on 11 October 1797.The battle was the most significant naval battle of the French Revolution, marked as a victory of the British fleet over the Dutch.
The battle of Camperdown was marked as the most important off Camperduin on the North Holland coast. This battle is marked as the greatest-ever victory for a British fleet against an equal opponent up to that date.
This commemorative stamp was issued in 2021, by the Isle of Man to commemorate this event.
