This gold mohur issued by Mughal Emperor Badshah Muhammad Akbar sold for INR 17, 00,000 in an auction at Todywalla Auction House held in Mumbai on September 17, 2022.The weight of this coin is around 10.9g; minted in Lahore during the month of Farvardin in the 48th regnal year of Badshah Akbar. The obverse side of this gold mohur inscribed as 'Allahu Akbar Jale Jallaluhu'. The reverse side of this gold mohur depicts name 'Farwardin', mint name Lahore, and RY 48.
Lahore was part of the Mughal Empire from 1524 to 1752. It was the historic capital of Punjab and one of the most important cities in the Mughal Empire. It was also one of the richest mints of Akbar, which issued coins are all three metals: - gold, silver, and copper, regularly.
