Vidhyasagar Setu Commemorative Stamp

Vidhyasagar Setu, also known as Second Howrah Bridge, is a toll bridge over the Hooghly River in West Bengal. The Foundation of this bridge was laid by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi; on 20th May, 1972. Vidhyasagar Setu is named after a Bengal Polymath Ishwar Chandra Vidhyasagar.The construction of this bridge was started in 1978 and completed in 1992. The bridge spans over 457m in length and 35 m wide. This cable-styled bridge has 121 cables in a fan-like arrangement that built using steel pylons around 127.6 m high. Vidhyasagar Setu links two cities of West Bengal, Kolkata and Howrah and stands as one of the longest bridges in Asia. It is one of the prominent bridges in eastern India and is known for its architectural splendor.
This bridge was inaugurated on 10 of October, 1992. If one enjoys driving, this place is one of the best places to enjoy, especially; late at night.
A commemorative stamp was issued by India Post in 2007.
