Maulana Mazharul Haque was an Indian nationalist, lawyer, independence activist, and Indian freedom fighter.Maulana Mazharul Haque was born on 22nd December 1866 in Bahpura, Patna, and Bihar. He completed his former education at Patna College and Canning College, Lucknow. In 1888 he moved to England to pursue his legal studies. He got inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and got associated with Mahatma Gandhi for a lifetime.
After returning from England, he joined judicial services in 1891. In 1896, he started practicing as a lawyer. In 1906, he left Chhapra and started his practice in Patna, and in the same year, he was elected Vice-President of the Bihar Congress Committee. He got elected as a member of the Imperial Legislative Council of India between 1910 and 1911. In 1911, a third "Bihar State Conference" was held under the chairmanship of Maulana at the conference to demand a separate Bihar state.
Maulana Mazharul Haque played an important role in the Treaty of the Indian National Congress and Muslim League in 1916 and in the Khilafat Movement in 1919. He was also very active in Home Rule Movement started by Mrs. Annie Besant in 1916 and in Champaran Satyagrah in 1917.
Maulana Mazharul Haque constructed a house in Faridpur Siwan Bihar and named it Ashiyana. Later, this house became the center for Freedom Fighters and was visited by many nationalists, including Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Mahatma Gandhi.
