Nezahualcoyotl on 100 Mexican Pesos banknote

Nezahualcoyotl was a scholar, philosopher, warrior, architect, poet, and ruler. He is best remembered for his poetry. The name Nezahualcoyotl is referred from Nahuatl, meaning 'fasting coyate'. He rose as heir to the throne of Texcoco, but when he was 15, he was overthrown and forced into exile.The Bank of Mexico issued this 100 Mexican Pesos banknote in 2009. These banknotes were issued in seven different denominations. The obverse side of this banknote depicts the bust of Nezahualcoyotl, the 15th-century ruler of Texcoco, on the front of the banknote. The reverse side of this banknote depicts, Tenochtitlan, the largest city in the pre-Columbian Americas.
