Lion from Yeha Commemorative Stamp

The site Yeha is located about 53 km west of the World Heritage Site of Aksum in the Central Administrative zone of Tigray National Regional State in northern Ethiopia. It is the largest and most impressive archaeological site.The site Yeha is a large Bronze Age archaeological site; it is the most impressive site in the Horn of Africa, showing evidence of contact with South Arabia. It is one of Ethiopia’s major cities in the Tigrai region going more than 2000 years ago.
Ethiopia issued this commemorative stamp in 1978 to commemorate this archaeological site.
