Edith Cowan on polymer Australian Dollars banknote

The Reserve Bank of Australia issued this polymer 50 Dollar Australian Dollar in 2003 in six different denominations. The 50 Dollar Australian Dollar features the image of David Unaipon on one side and Edith Cowan on the other.Edith Cowan was an Australian social reformer who worked for the rights and welfare of women and children. She is best known as the first Australian woman to serve as a member of parliament. She defeated the sitting member on the strength of the work she had done to improve a lot of women, children, and the underprivileged. The Reserve Bank of Australia first featured in Australia's 50-dollar note in 1995.
