Lal Bahadur Shastri was an Indian statesman and politician. He served India as a second president between June 9, 1964, and January 11, 1966.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was a man of exceptional willpower. To increase the production and supply of milk, he promoted White Revolution by supporting the Amul milk co-operative of Anand, Gujarat, and creating the National Dairy Development Board.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was greatly inspired by the thought of Mahatma Gandhi. He gave the slogan of “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” which means “Hail the soldier, Hail the farmer. He was a member of the non-cooperation movement against the British government. He also participated in the Salt March and went to jail for two years. He was elected to the legislature of the United Provinces in 1937 and 1946. He had also served India as union minister for railways and transport. Lal Bahadur Shastri was a highly disciplined person with high self-esteem and morals.
