Benito Juarez on Mexican Banknotes

The Bank of Mexico issued the banknotes depicting the bust of their 26th president in the year 2006. The banknotes are issued in seven different denominations, and they are still in circulation.Benito Juarez was a Mexican liberal politician and lawyer and was the 26th president of Mexico from 1858 until he died in office in 1872. He had served Mexico as Councillor of the city of Oaxaca and deputy to the State Congress. He had also served Mexico as Minister of State and Minister of Justice.
The front side of this banknote depicts the bust of Benito Juarez. The other side of this banknote depicts, Veinte Pesos note depicts Monte Alban, a large archaeological site in Oaxaca from the pre-Columbian era.
