Narhar Vishnu Gadgil Commemorative Stamp

Narhar Vishnu Gadgil was a freedom fighter and politician from Maharashtra. He was a writer, he wrote in both Marathi and English. Narhar Vishnu Gadgil got influenced by famous freedom fighters like Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Vallabhbhai Patel. Spiritual leaders like Swami Ramakrishna Paramhans and Swami Vivekananda had made a great impression on his life.

Narhar Vishnu Gadgil joined Indian National Congress in 1920 and started participating in Indian National Freedom Movement. He got arrested by the British Government for participating in the Indian freedom struggle. Gadgil was a pioneer in social reform movements in Maharashtra in 1930. In 1930, he was listed as a leader of the Civil DisCivil Disobedience Committee and the Pune War Council.

This commemorative stamp was issued by the Indian Government in 1985, to commemorate him and his work.
