2016-07-09 Sat

On 7th July it was announced that the Collection of Patricia Milne-Henderson: Books on Coins, Medals and Antiquities, would be sold online. The sale began on 8th July and would go on till 18th July. Experts believe that the collection is absolutely fine and precious.

Milne-Henderson started collecting numismatic literature and picked up many rare editions, with amazing illustrations n the 1960s for the next 50 years.

Many books belonged from the times of Charles II, the Duke of Northumberland, the Earl of Pembroke, Andrew Fletcher of Saltoun, William Beckford, Sir William Stirling Maxwell and the Earl of Bute. Some books were issued during the Italian Renaissance when a lot of ancient rarities were excavated.

The earliest book in the collection is Fulvio’s Illustrium Imagines of 1517, in which famous faces were identified through the study of coins. Cataloguing and studying coins for learning the historical significance behind them became a trend soon after that.

Many other such historical books will be sold at the event.
