Purushottam Das Tandon Commemorative Stamp

Purushottam Das Tandon was a freedom fighter of India; from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. He is best known for his efforts in opposing the Partition of India. He played a vital role in achieving the Official Language of India status for Hindi.He was an enthusiastic campaigner for the use of Hindi as India’s national language. He was also arrested many times for his participation in Non-Cooperation Movement and in Quit India Movement. He was also actively involved in farmer movements, becoming the president of the Kisan Sabha in 1934.
br> Purshottam Das was an associate of the Congress party and took part in several protests against the British government. He was attached to politics even after his Independence for the wellbeing of this country.
