King of Mewar Maharana Pratap Commemorative Stamp

Pratap Singh I, popularly known as Maharana Pratap, was the Hindu Rajput king of Mewar. He is popularly known for his heroic fight in the Battle of Haldighati, where the Rajput Army; was massively beaten; but gave a tough fight to the Mughal Emperor Akbar.The Battle of Haldighati took place on June 18, 1576, between Mewar king Maharana Pratap and the Mughal emperor Akbar's forces, led by Man Singh I of Amber. Haldighati was a futile victory for the Mughals, as they were unable to kill or capture Pratap or any of his close family members in Udaipur.
Mahara Pratap was able to make a success in escape. Mansingh, conquer Gogunda within a week after Haldighati and ended his campaign. Later, Akbar sustained a campaign against Rana in September 1576, and soon Gogunda, Udaipur, and Kumbhalgarh were under the control of the Mughal Empire.
