Ulster Bank's Polymer 20 Pounds Bank Note
2022-02-28 Mon
Ulster Bank presented its new polymer banknote of 20 pounds in the year 2014. It is the last banknote Polymer issue completing the transition to polymer banknotes by Northern Ireland. The new Ulster Bank £20 note reflects local music and culture with street entertainers and their audience as well as tiles, brickwork and patterns inspired by Northern Ireland’s ubiquitous red-brick tenement buildings. Other design elements are drawn from the decorations on public buildings, corporate architecture and domestic homes in Londonderry, Belfast and other cities in Northern Ireland.
The note also incorporates the Halloween celebrations in Derry and Londonderry into the security features of the note; under a UV light, skeletons and Leisler’s bat — the largest type of bat in Ireland — can be seen.
