Muthuswami Dikshitar was a South Indian poet, singer, and veena player. He was the legendary composer of Indian classical music; and one of the musical trinity of Carnatic music. He has composed around 500 compositions; they are widely sung by renowned musicians in Carnatic music performances even today.All his compositions are unique, brilliantly crafted, and well-chiseled. The most fascinating aspect of Sri Dikshitar's songs is the grandeur and majesty of his music. Muthuswami Dikshitar is also known by his signature name Guruguha. His compositions are widely sung and played in classical concerts of Carnatic music. This commemorative stamp was by India in 1976; to commemorate him and his work.
