2016-07-06 Wed
Ten years ago, fake news made rounds that all 1943 cents were worth tens of thousands of dollars which led to a lot of confusion among collectors and coin shops. A lady brought a roll of the circulated cents for which she demanded $30,000 per coin. These kinds of news which arise out of tight deadlines in the media industry can sometimes prove to be very problematic.Coin experts did their best to correct the story that was already published, but nothing happened for a very long time which led to more confusion.
After a lot more efforts coin experts managed to correct the story and issue an updated one. The correction was issued locally while the original incorrect news was published nationwide.
