Friedrich Max Muller was a German-born philologist and Orientalist, who lived and studied in Britain for most of his life. He was the German scholar of competitive language, religion, and mythology.

Max Mueller was more interested in Sanskrit, Philology, and the religions of India; he also wrote his work on the subject of Indology. Some of the important work of Max Muller includes Upanishads, the Rig Veda, and the Buddhist text Dhammapada. He focussed on the Sanskrit language and emerged as a prominent Sanskrit scholar of his era. He qualified in the Sanskrit language when even Indians did not understand the language.
