Victory Tower, Chittorgarh Commemorative Stamp

Victory Tower, also called Vijay Stambha, is an imposing victory monument located within Chittor Fort in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, India. It is the most prominent monument in the fort. This tower was constructed; by the Hindu king RanaKumbha of Mewar in 1448 CE to commemorate his victory over Mahmud Khilji. This tower is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.The tower has beautiful carvings on the exterior as well as the interior. Some of the carvings have been mutilated by the invading armies of the Moghuls.
The Indian government issued this commemorative stamp in 1949 to commemorate this building.
