The KandariyaMahadeva Temple, also called "the Great God of the Cave", is the largest and most ornate Hindu temple in the medieval temple group found at Khajuraho dedicated to Lord Shiva, in Madhya Pradesh, India. Temples of KandariyaMahadeva Temple; are mentioned in the UNESCO list of world heritage sites in 1986.KandariyaMahadeva Temple is built in the area of 6,500 square feet and has a height of about 117 feet measured from the ground. It is considered one of the best examples of temples preserved from the medieval period in India. It is one of the most luxurious examples of religious art, and it can be compared to the Renaissance architecture of Europe.
The Indian government has issued this commemorative stamp on KendriyaMahadev Temple in 1949.
