Peter Paul Rubens Commemorative Stamp

Sir Peter Paul Rubens was a French artist and diplomat from the Duchy of Brabant in the Southern Netherlands (modern-day Belgium). He was the Flemish painter, having a great exponent of Baroque Painting's dynamism, vitality, and sensuous exuberance. Ruben was also a prolific designer of cartoons for the Flemish tapestry workshops and frontispieces for the publishers in Antwerp. Rubens presides.over the most famous painter’s studio in Europe. His powers of the invention were matched by extraordinary energy and versatility. The Indian government issued this commemorative stamp in the year 1978 to commemorate him and his work. It was issued to commemorate the 400th Birth Anniversary of Rubens.
