Canada celebrates the centennial of the Bluenose schooner with a new design for the 10-cent coin. For the first time since 1937, the Royal Canadian Mint re-designed the image of a classic ship that Canadians have known and loved for a century. This new design by Nova Scotia marine artist Yves Berube was issued in celebration of Bluenose’s 100th anniversary.Royal Canadian Mint launched Canada’s first-ever colored 10-cent coin. On the reverse of the coin, Berube’s tribute to Bluenose shows an angled view of the famous schooner, under full sail. A touch of blue that brings to life the deep waters of the North Atlantic that Bluenose ruled throughout its illustrious career. The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
