Battle of Fredericksburg was from December 11 -15, 1862, between the Union Army of the Potomac commanded by Maj. Gen. Ambrose E. Burnside and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia under Gen. Robert E. Lee. It was one of the most decisive victories for the South during the war. Fredericksburg is considered one of the largest and deadliest battles of the Civil War. The Battle of Frederick is one of the most one-sided battles, with Union casualties more than twice as heavy as those suffered by the Confederates.The Battle of Fredericksburg proved to be a major loss for Union Army. This battle signaled the low point of the war for the Union.
This commemorative stamp was issued by Antigua and Barbuda; on the Battle of Fredericksburg in 2002.
