The Battle of Hastings was the battle fought between the Norman-French army of William, the Duke of Normandy, and an English army under the Anglo-Saxon King Harold Godwinson, beginning the Norman conquest of England. In this battle, two great armies prepared to fight for the throne of England.The Battle of Hastings took place on October 14, 1066, at the place northwest, to Hastings, close to the present-day town of Battle, East Sussex, and was a decisive Norman victory.
At the end of this war, king Harold Godwinson died, and his forces were destroyed. King Harold Godwinson was the last Anglo-Saxon of England. As this battle changed the entire course of History, this brought established the Normans, as rulers of England, which in turn brought about a significant cultural transformation.
