Jallianwala Bagh Massacre is also known as Amritsar Massacre; it took place in Amritsar, Punjab, on April 13, 1919. The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, mark as a turning point in the Indian freedom struggle.When the British government passes the Rowlatt Act of 1919; they face opposition from India. In return, Sir Michel O’ Dwyer imposed martial rule in Lahore and Amritsar on April 11, 1919; but the order reached Amritsar on April 14, 1919. General Col R E H Dyre, holding the temporary rank of Brigadier General, from the Jalandhar cantonment to Amritsar. On April 13; 1919, When the people gather, in the Jallianwala Bagh; to protest against the arrest of Dr. Satyapal and Dr. Saifuddin Kitchlew at 4 PM called up by the local leaders. Both Dr. Satyapal and Dr. Saifuddin Kitchlew arrest for opposing Rowlatt Act.
General Col Dyer, along with 50 soldiers, marched towards Jallianwala Bagh; and ordered for open fire without giving any warning to protestors, more than 400 people; were killed in this firing.
