2021-09-04 Sat

Central Bank of Aruba received its annual prestigious “Bank Note of the Year Award” for 2019. With well over 100 new banknotes released worldwide during 2019, only 22 were nominated and 1 was selected to be the best.

Aruba’s new 100 Florin bill led the voting followed by an almost virtual tie between Eastern $10 Caribbean States banknote with multiple motifs, 5 Pound Northern Ireland Ulster Bank with flying geese with people on a shoreline, and 1000 Franc banknote of Switzerland with human hands. The new series was conceived on the theme of "Life in Aruba" and each note thus includes emblematic elements of the flora and fauna, cultural heritage and historical monuments of the country.

The Back the 100 Florin Banknotes is predominantly emerald green in color, with a large "iguana" in the center and an indigenous lizard - the "striped anole (Anolis lineatus)" - on the left. On the Front, the 100 Florin Banknote the predominantly green and blue color design shows images of dancing women in native dress, with ribbons and leaves from the Aloe plant - an economic mainstay.
