Baji Rao Peshwa Commemorative Stamp

Baji Rao is also known as Bajirao Ballal; he was the seventh Peshwa of the Maratha Empire. He was the most celebrated personality after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the history of the Mughal Empire. He was appointed as chief minister of the Maratha Confederacy between 1720 and 1740.Baji Rao Peshwa sat on the throne of Maratha, after Balaji Vishvanath Bhat, as Peshwa in 1720, establishing hereditary succession for the post. Bajai Rao Peshwa was the man of character and known for his rapid tactical movements on the battlefield. The Baji Rao Peshwa has been attributed to the transformation in the character of the Maratha nation-state. His military is one example of his genius. To honor this one of the greatest warriors, the Indian Postal Department has issued a commemorative stamp in2004.
