King Sigismund III was Chosen as King of Poland

Today, in 1587 CE King Sigismund III Vasa was elected as the King of Poland. He ruled Poland between 1587 CE and 1632 CE. King Sigismund III was the son of Sigismund II of Poland; he united the Vasa and Jagiello dynasties. King Sigismund III was also elected as the king of Sweden, he ruled Sweden between 1592 CE and 1599 CE.

King Sigismund III was a zealous Catholic, and during his rule, the pivotal Church Union of Berestia was signed in 1596. He imposed Roman Catholic doctrine across the vast realm, and his crusades against neighboring states marked Poland's largest territorial expansion. He supported Jesuits and tried to suppress the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
