In the Memory of Korean War

2021-07-28 Wed

The Korean War was fought between North and South Korea from 1950 to 1953. During the war, North Korea was assisted by Chine and the Soviet Union, while UN forces led by the USA provided support for South Korea. After World War II, the Korean Peninsula was divided into two parts along the 38th parallel.

North Korea had issued a 10 Won Banknote to honour those who served in the war. The obverse of the banknote depicts Servicemen of the Korean People’s Army representing the Air Force, Navy, and Ground Forces. The reverse depicts Monument to Victorious War in the reverse. The museum and monument reflect the official North Korean government’s viewpoint of victory in the Korean War.
