Silver Drachm of Trikutakas Listed For INR 40,000

This silver drachm that weighs around 1.88g was issued by Trikutaka king Madhyamasena during his rule. The obverse of this coin depicts the bust of the king facing towards the right wearing a ribbed flat helmet. The reverse of this coin depicts a Three-arched hill in the centre, flanked by dotted sun and crescent; Brahmi legend …Rama Vaishnava Maharaja Madhyamasena.Trikutakas were the Indian dynasty ruled between 388 CE and 456 CE. The name Trikutakas is derived; from the word ‘Tri-Kuta’ meaning; three-peaked mountains. We can find the reference of Trikutakas in Kalidasa’s Raghuvamsa, which is located, in the area of northern Konkan.
This silver Drachm is listed; for INR 40,000 in the upcoming auction of Classical Numismatic Gallery that will be held in Ahmedabad on 15th August 2021.
